The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) in the US is testing the 5000-series rail car prototype to determine its performance.
The CTA said the prototype will move to the Green Line following four weeks of passenger service-testing on the Red Line.
Ten rail cars on all eight Chicago rail lines will be tested to gather performance information and to improve its systems.
Testing will be completed ahead of finalising the order of the remaining 396 cars.
