The European Investment Bank (EIB) will grant a €500m ($633m) loan for the Dublin Metro project in Ireland.
Work involves the construction of a 19km railway running from Dublin city centre to Fingal via Dublin Airport, according to The Irish Times.
Other project works involve the design and construction of a light metro system and 17 stations.
The EIB’s loans to the Dublin Metro will cover 8% of the project’s estimated €6bn cost.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2016 under a public-private partnership agreement.
