Marubeni Philippines and DM Consunji have received a $1.12bn contract to extend a Metro Manila train line in the Philippines.
The companies, under the MRT 7 project, will build a 22km extension of the metro rail transit line.
The project also includes an intermodal transport terminal consisting of a transportation hub for buses and other public transport vehicles.
Metro Manila's extended line is expected to have 14 stations and a 22km, six-lane feeder highway, according to business.inquirer.net.
The MRT 7 project is initially expected to handle 108 rail cars in a three-car train configuration, with a capacity of 448,000 passengers a day.
New tracks are intended to complement Metro Manila’s three existing overhead train lines and reduce traffic.
