UK High-Speed Rail to Get Government Aid

06 May 2010

The Ashford high-speed rail link in the UK will be supported by a government subsidy in the next four years.

Government aid for the project topped ВЈ80m ($121m) in the last month after the franchise was unsuccessful in reaching its goal of 10% growth in passenger numbers, according to business.timesonline.co.uk.

The number of passengers is expected to be lower than was initially anticipated.
