Anti-government protesters in the Thai capital of Bangkok have forced trains on the city's elevated railway system to shut down.
Protestors, known as Red Shirts, stacked tyres on station platforms because of fears the army would use them to attack the crowds from above.
Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said it was clear the protesters were not gathering peacefully, according to Reuters.
Governments across the world are advising people not to travel to Thailand after seven weeks of protests in which 26 people have died.
