Australia Plans High-Speed Rail Link

27 April 2010

Australia's Green Party plans to introduce a high-speed railway line to connect cities on the east coast.

Senator Bob Brown has unveiled the proposal for a A$10m one-year feasibility study into the link, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Brown said the link would reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ease congestion on roads and flight routes.

The link is expected to carry passengers between Melbourne and Sydney, and between other hubs, in about four hours.
