Canada Opens LRT Stations

27 April 2010

The Canadian city of Edmonton, Alberta, has opened two light rail transit (LRT) stations.

The stations, worth C$690m, are expected to allow travel into the city in just over 20min, according to the CBC.

The new stretch of track is intended to link the north and the south of the city and facilitate the setting up of an integrated transit system.

The government is also planning to further expand the LRT, at an estimated cost of C$1bn.
