Work Begins on Chinese Rail Section

China has begun construction of the Nanjing-Anqing intercity railway in Ma'anshan, costing CNY3bn ($438m).

The city of Ma'anshan will be linked to a high-speed transport network in the Yangtze Delta, promoting industrial growth in east China.

The 38.5km section is expected to be complete by the end of 2012, reports anhuinews.com.

The total cost of the entire railway project is estimated to be CNY28bn($4bn).
