A luxury train has derailed outside a station in Pretoria, South Africa, killing three people and injuring dozens more.
One of the victims was pregnant and went in to labor after the accident, but neither the mother nor the baby survived, reports the Associated Press.
Investigations into the accident are focusing on the integrity of the train's breaking system and coupling and decoupling procedures.
The line, described as having a good track record and safety management, has been closed and is unlikely to resume services for at least a couple of days.
The 17-coach Rovos Rail train was carrying 59 passengers, some of which had to be cut form the wreckage.
The train was on route from Pretoria to Cape Town, a journey costing passengers between $1,500 and $3,000.
Rovos Rail is a reconditioned, wood-panelled train which can carry up to 72 passengers in 36 cabins.
The accident comes seven weeks before thousands of tourists are expected to descend on the country for the World Cup.
