Plans to reopen the Kuranda train service will boost the area's tourism industry, according to Australia's Queensland Rail (QR).
A risk assessment is expected to be carried out on the track where a train derailed last month, injuring six passengers.
The line is expected to remain closed for at least four weeks, reports www.abc.net.au.
A minor landslide caused the train, with 224 passengers on board, to run off the track about 16km into its journey at Kuranda.
According to QR, about 3,000m3 of mud were cleared from the track.
A geotechnical report was also done on 16 April 2010.
