South Africa Plans High-Speed Rail

19 April 2010

South Africa is planning to build a high-speed rail network to link the cities of Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

The rail line is expected to lower the travel time on the route from 12 hours to three, according to inhabitat.com.

The country's transport department is particularly keen on providing an alternative to the accident-prone and clogged link between Johannesburg and Durban.
