Pearl consortium has won a contract to roll out a $1.2bn smart card ticketing system in Sydney, Australia.

The consortium is expected to deliver a system based on the Cubic-developed London Oyster Card system.

The system will cover trains across Greater Sydney.

The Pearl consortium includes Cubic Transportation Systems, Downer EDI and Commonwealth Bank.
