Italian Train Derailment Kills Six

12 April 2010

A train has derailed in the north of Italy killing six passengers and injuring at least 20 more.

The accident at 9am local time took place near the Austrian boarder outside the Italian city of Bolzano.

A landslide near the town of Merano is being blamed for the derailment on the line between Kastelbell and Laces.

The line is viewed as one of the most modern in Europe having undergone a major revamp in 2005.
