About 10,000 London Tube workers are set to strike in the next few weeks over job cuts, the UK Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union said.
In a public meeting held last night, the RMT warned the public of its strike, and explained its reasons for taking such disruptive action.
The RMT's announcement follows London Underground's refusal to withdraw plans to cut 800 station jobs.
The union claims the plan will threaten passenger safety and turn Tube stations into 'a muggers' paradise'.
London Underground said the job cuts would include 100 managers, 450 ticket office posts and up to 200 other jobs.
The strikes, if held, could coincide with UK's general election campaign.
