SNCF Orders More Alstom Trains

31 March 2010

France's SNCF has awarded a €135m ($180m) contract to Alstom to supply 23 Régiolis trains from the Coradia Polyvalent range.

The trains will be used in the French regions of Basse Normandie and Haute Normandie.

Capable of speeds up to 160kph, these single-level regional trains are available in electric and hybrid versions and operate on two different voltages (25kV and 1,500V).

They also offer several different technical configurations along with modular fittings for passengers.

The order, financed by the regions, is part of an October 2009 contract worth €800m ($1.07bn) for the supply of 100 Coradia Polyvalent trains, out of which an option for 19 trains has already been exercised.

These 142 trainsets, to be delivered between 2013 and mid-2015, will be used in the regions of Alsace, Aquitaine, Basse Normandie, Haute Normandie, Lorraine, Midi-Pyrénées, Pays de la Loire, Picardie and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.
