Ghanaian Railway to Get $2bn Facelift

24 March 2010

More than $2bn will be used to revamp Ghana's railway system, Deputy Minister for Transport Dzifa Aku Attivor has said.

The work, designed to make the system safer, more affordable and cost effective for cargo transportation, is expected to be carried out this year.

The project will be funded by the African Railway Company, according to gbcghana.com.

The programme includes improving the rail line from Accra to Koforidua in the Eastern Region and Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to facilitate goods movement and faster travel.
