Thales UK Upgrades Technology for DLR

22 March 2010

Thales UK has upgraded its communications-based train control technology, SelTrac, to suit the changes on London's Docklands Light Railway (DLR).

The new version of SelTrac is expected to accommodate the DLR's upgrade from two to three-car services, to run in London soon.

The multi-million pound DLR upgrade project involves extending platforms and upgrading track and infrastructure.

DLR has seen a 50% increase in capacity since the upgrades.

Thales UK vice-president of transportation systems Peter Batley said upgrades to the DLR are essential for the forthcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"Thales UK is committed to helping the DLR meet its commitments for London 2012," Batley said.
