BAE Announces New Partner for Facial Recognition System

16 March 2010

A 3D facial recognition system to improve security in train stations for BAE Systems' new project will be supplied by biometrics firm Human Recognition Systems (HRS).

Defence and security company BAE Systems is working jointly with facial biometric experts Omniperception on the project, which is being helped by HRS in the mass face enrolment trial.

The project is expected to help police and security professionals identify suspects on CCTV as they move through public spaces and build up a picture of their behaviour through multiple CCTV cameras.

HRS will be working closely with OmniPerception and BAE Systems during 2010 to develop further applications for the technology.

This includes mass transit systems and schemes that require large-scale enrolment or verification in train stations.
