Russian Freight Places Substantial Wagon Order

08 March 2010

Russian Railways' rail freight subsidiary Freight One has awarded a contract for 1,800 tank and 1,800 open wagons to Ruzkhimmash to be supplied this year.

The order is part of the freight operator's plans to buy at least 15,000 wagons this year to renew its fleet, according to Railwaygazette.com.

In 2009, Freight One bought 8,000 wagons, which was nearly half the total Russian output.

The company was allocated the task of national wagon fleet modernisation as one of the key works when it was created in 2007.
