Russian Firm Wins ZS Rail Order

02 March 2010

Serbian Railways (ZS) has awarded the first of three train contracts to Russian firm Metrovagonmash to supply ten two-car diesel multiple units (DMUs) for its regional and suburban services.

It will be the first batch of rolling stock acquired by the national railway for modernisation of its passenger fleet.

The trains are scheduled to operate from 2012.

The order is partly funded by a loan from Eurofima.

Metrovagonmash, a subsidiary of Transmash Holding, has so far manufactured 62 DMUs for Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
