US and Iraq to Exchange Transport Technology

26 February 2010

The transport departments of the US and Iraq have signed an MOU to promote cooperation in all areas of transportation.

The deal has been signed by US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and Iraq's Transport Minister Amer Abdul-Jabbar Ismael.

Under the agreement, Iraq will benefit from the exchange of scientific and technical information for transport systems, including specialists, delegations, scientific and technical personnel; joint organisation of symposia, seminars and other meetings; and joint research in transportation science and technology.

Iraq's Minister of Transport Amer Abdul-Jabbar Ismael said he hopes that with the help of the US, Iraq can build reliable and safe transport networks from civil aviation to maritime facilities, road and rail connections.
