01 March 2010

The US Port Authority of New York & New Jersey has awarded a $542m contract for the construction of the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) hall in the World Trade Center (WTC) site's West Bathtub.

The transportation facility, part of the WTC Transportation Hub project, is the largest contract for the project to date.

Work including building four rail platforms will be carried out by Skanska USA Civil Northeast, Granite Construction Northeast and Skanska USA Building.

The facility will serve over 200,000 commuters daily and is a key part of the transportation hub, which will provide services on the PATH system and link 13 different subway lines as well as the World Financial Center and the ferry system.
