London's King's Cross Station's redevelopment contract has been awarded to NG Bailey, which will work with VINCI Construction on the project.
The first stage of this revamp will be to install a new plant room before starting construction on the station's new western concourse.
The new concourse, which will be three times the size of the existing one, will feature shops and restaurants for passengers and improved access to London Underground, Thameslink and Eurostar services from St Pancras.
Refurbishment on the adjoining Grade 1 listed western range, which will be home to 150 employees, will then take place. The final stage will be a brand new customer information and security area.
Operation director for NG Bailey Tim Cunningham said the firm was delighted to have been chosen to work on one of Network Rail's flagship stations.
King's Cross Station is used by over 47 million people every year, with this number expected to rise to nearly 60 million by 2020.
The redevelopment, which will take place over the next four years, is designed to meet these future demands and offer the best facilities for passengers.
