California and Korea Sign MOU for High-Speed Rail

16 February 2010

The governments of Korea and the US state of California have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for continuous cooperation and information sharing regarding the construction of a high-speed railway system.

California has recently won nearly $2.5bn in investment from the federal government's $8bn mass transit programme, for a high-speed rail project linking San Francisco and Los Angeles in just two and a half hours.

The Korean government said it would put its utmost efforts into winning the construction deal, according to Arirang.

The MOU is California's fifth after China, Germany, Japan and Italy for the state's passenger railway system.
