ASK and Ideco Chosen for Gautrain's Contactless Ticketing

11 February 2010

French company ASK will supply contactless smart cards for the automatic fare collection system of South Africa's Gautrain rail project.

The contract has been awarded by the Bombela Operating Company, which is carrying out the $3.5bn rail project to link Johannesburg, Pretoria and OR Tambo International Airport.

ASK's South African partner Ideco will provide project support and post-personalisation services for the fare system.

The system is expected to provide passengers with quick access to railway, feeder bus and parking services.
