German LRT to Deploy Tagmaster's RFID

04 February 2010

Swedish firm TagMaster will supply its radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology for the new U4 line of the Hochbahn light rail transit (LRT) system in the German city of Hamburg.

The company's GEN4 HD Track Readers will be mounted on the track directly on the sleepers and provide train location and direction detection information to the central control centre.

TagMaster also supplied its RFID equipment to Hamburg for lines U2 and U3.

The nearly SEK1m ($140,000) contract has been awarded by Funkwerk Information Technologies.
