Saudi and French Firms Team Up for Rail Projects

01 February 2010

Saudi Public Transport Company has partnered with France's Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens subsidiary Ratp Dev to jointly bid for Saudi's public transportation projects.

The agreement with the semi-government French firm covers the operation and maintenance of future tram and metro networks in the country.

The team is now eyeing future bids including planned projects in the major cities of Riyadh, Mecca and Medina.

Of the $400bn the country is spending on national development plan in five years until 2013, a significant portion will be used for transport projects including tramways, high-speed trains and metros.
