Verint Technology to Monitor London Overground Stations

26 January 2010

US firm Verint Systems is deploying its Nextiva IP video technology across 40 stations on London's Overground train service.

The company will install over 1,500 Nextiva IP cameras integrated with its Nextiva Video Management software, aimed at enhancing passenger safety as well as preventing vandalism and crime on the stations.

The solution will be integrated into a series of platform-based passenger "help points" across the network of stations, with video managed from a central control room in London, according to Verint.

UK national rail operator Network Rail and Amey are working along with Verint to deliver the solution.

Work is being carried out under a deal with the Overground's operator London Overground Rail Operations Limited, a joint venture between Hong Kong's MTR and Germany's Deutsche Bahn, which is operating the service under a contract with Transport for London.
