Belgium Orders 13 Siemens Light Rail Cars

21 January 2010

Siemens will supply 13 Hermelijn type low-floor light rail vehicles to Belgian rail operator De Lijn.

The fleet will be used for the city of Antwerp's railway network as well as for transporting tourists in the summer months on the coastal route between Knokke and De Panne in West Flanders.

Siemens Mobility will deliver the fleet between October 2011 and April 2012, under the €32m ($45.7m) deal.

The company had already supplied 112 Hermelijn type vehicles between 1999 and 2007.
