APTA Launches High-Speed Rail Centre in US

12 January 2010

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA), an international association of more than 1,500 public and private member organisations, has launched a new centre to promote high-speed rail in the US.

The Center for High-Speed Rail will build on the efforts of other APTA committees including the High-Speed and Intercity Rail Committee and the Legislative Committee.

According to APTA the centre's establishment will bring together the expertise of its members and APTA's education and advocacy resources to realise the vision of high-speed rail in the US.

APTA is working with industry groups including the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, the States for Passenger Rail Coalition and the International Union of Railways to support and advance high-speed rail in the US.
