Polish Railway Chooses Zhuzhou Trains

08 January 2010

Poland's regional rail operator Koleje Mazowieckie has selected China South's Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive to supply 11 electric locomotives.

The company has been named as the lowest bidder at $50m(€35m), lower than Bombardier's $58.8m (€41m) and Siemens' $63m (€44m) bid.

The locomotives will be used to power 160kmph push-pull trainsets using 37 Bombardier-supplied coaches.

The contract is expected to be signed by the end of March and the delivery of the locomotives is scheduled for December 2011.
