India has witnessed three accidents in the New Year that have killed at least ten and injured over 60 others.
The three separate accidents occurred in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, and officials say they were caused by fog.
The first accident involved an intercity express ramming into the back of a stationary passenger train near the town of Sarai Bhupat.
The second accident occurred 45 minutes later when two other express trains faced a similar collision and the third accident involved a passenger train slamming into a tractor at an unmanned rail crossing.
According to officials, the impact of the collisions was minimised as the trains were travelling at low speeds because of the dense fog.
