China has opened a new railway line in its Xinjiang Autonomous Region, which is expected to boost trade links with central Asia and Europe.
The 381.5km rail line, called the Second Urumqi-Jinghe Line, can handle train speeds of 120kmph and has a transportation capacity of 67.1 million tonnes, which is expected to rise to 91.7 million tonnes, according to xinhuanet.com.
Jinghe is linked to two land ports, Horgos and Alataw Pass, on the China-Kazakhstan border and the new rail line is expected to facilitate goods transport to Kazakhstan.
