Bombardier and AnsaldoBreda Team Up on Italian Train Order

09 December 2009

Canadian firm Bombardier and Italy-based Finmeccanica Group subsidiary AnsaldoBreda will jointly bid for a high-speed train order by Italian rail operator Trenitalia.

The two companies have been invited by the rail operator to bid for an order of 50 high-speed trains.

The train to be offered by the team combines technologies from AnsaldoBreda's V300 and Bombardier's 380kmph train ZEFIRO.

The new train will travel at more than 300kmph, consume up to 50% less fuel than the high-speed trains currently in service, offer operating efficiency and involve lower running costs, the companies said.
