Samsung C&T Wins Rail Deal in Singapore

08 December 2009

Singapore's Land Transport Authority has awarded a $257.6m (S$357.5m) contract to South Korean construction firm Samsung C&T for civil works on the North-South rail line extension.

The Samsung subsidiary will design and build a new station and associated tunnels at Marina South for the fully underground extension.

The 1km extension will connect the city's Marina financial district to the Marina South area, allowing passengers an additional transport option to Marina South Pier and surrounding landmarks.

Construction of the new rail line is scheduled to begin shortly and finish by 2014.
