Stadler Rail to Provide Trains to France

18 November 2009

Swiss train manufacturer Stadler Rail will supply four articulated electric multiple units for the under-construction railway in Puy-de-DГґme in the French region of Massif Central.

The $24.8m (CHF25m) worth trainsets will operate on the 5.3km railway, which is being built by Canadian firm SNC-Lavalin.

The units will be based on the vehicles that Stadler supplied for FGC's metre gauge Montserrat rack line near Barcelona in Spain, the company said.

The trains will be designed to suit the needs of tourists and will feature large windows to give uninterrupted views as the units climb 600m.
