Malaysia Awards Contract to Chinese Firms

Malaysia will award a $2.3bn (7.5bn ringgit) contract to China to build a railway in the southern part of the country, the Malaysian Prime Minister has announced.

The 250km double-track railway will connect the southern city of Johor Baru with Gemas in the neighbouring state of Negeri Sembilan.

Work is expected to be carried out by a consortium made up of China Railway Engineering and China Railway Telecommunication Centre.
