04 November 2009

Malaysian company Scomi Engineering has partnered with Indian firm Geodesic Techniques to jointly bid for the $2.4bn monorail system in the Indian city of Bangalore.

The contract will be to design, build, own, operate and transfer the three monorail lines totalling 59km and covering 54 elevated stations.

Under the agreement, Scomi will be the technology partner and systems integrator and Geodesic will provide civil and structural support.

The monorail, a first for the city, will act as a feeder service to the Bangalore Metro rail system.

Work on the project is expected to begin in mid-2010 and finish in 2013.

Scomi is working on Mumbai's monorail project with Indian consortium partner Larsen and Toubro.
