Norwegian Firm to Maintain Alstom's Sweden Trains

26 October 2009

French firm Alstom has signed Norwegian firm Mantena to maintain the 49 Coradia Nordic trains it is building for the Scania region of Sweden.

The seven-year, €22m contract requires Alstom to provide the necessary spare parts for fleet maintenance as well as plan for replacement part needs, deliver parts on request in real time, manage the spare parts storehouse and provide local technical support.

Alstom is building the trains for the Scania region's public transport authority Skanetrafiken under a 2006 contract.

The delivery of the trains is scheduled to begin in November.

The trains are designed to suit the extreme winter weather conditions in the region and are 95% recyclable.
