A collision between two trains in northern India today has resulted in the death of 21 passengers, injuring over 20.
The incident happened when a Delhi-bound Goa Express train crashed into a stationary Mewar Express train near the Taj Mahal town of Agra, 130 miles (210km) southeast of New Delhi.
The railway officials said that the Mewar Express was at standstill as a passenger had pulled the emergency chain and the driver of the Goa Express had overlooked a stop signal.
The railway lines are being cleared and cranes have been called in to remove the two stricken carriages standing on the tracks.
Authorities are now conducting a detailed inquiry into the incident.
The state-run railway system carries 18.5 million passengers every day.
