Plans to construct a £120m Glasgow Airport rail link in Scotland have been scrapped by the government due to budget constraints.
The 15km rail line would have linked Glasgow Airport with Paisley St James Station and was scheduled to finish ahead of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Glasgow.
Scotland's finance secretary John Swinney said the move followed a £500m budget cut imposed by the UK Treasury.
Nearly £47m had already been spent on improvements to Glasgow Central station and new track and signalling for the project.
The rail link, first proposed by the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport nearly 20 years ago, won the support of Scottish Parliament in 2006 and was passed to the Transport Scotland in 2008 with a provisional budget of up to £395m.
