Vietnam Railway Signs $47m Rail Consultancy Deal

The Vietnam Railway Corporation has singned a VND840bn (approximately $47m) contract with the Vietnam-Japan Consultancy Joint Venture to provide consultancy for the city of Hanoi's urban rail project Phase I.

The 74-month contract includes a survey, technical plans and assistance in resettlement and construction maintenance.

The VND19,460bn Phase I involves construction of the 15.36km Giap Bat-Gia Lam rail line and Ngoc Hoi railway station. The city's total planned rail network, Yen Vien-Ngoc Hoi railway, totals 28km.

Work will be funded by a Japanese ODA capital loan issued by the Japan International Cooperation Agency along with matched domestic investment.

The consultancy JV has two components. The Vietnamese side consists of the Transport Construction Consultancy and Investment Company and Consultancy Transport Design Corporation and the Southern Transport Design and Consultancy Corporation.

The Japanese side of the JV comprises the Japan Transportation Consultancy Company, Railway Technical Service Company, East Japan Railway Consultancy Company, Electricity Consultancy Company and Koken Architecture Company.
