NJ Transit Equips Stations With New Speech Technology

03 September 2009

The New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ Transit) in the US is set to deploy automated speech technology on its Metropark station to provide customers with real-time update services.

The text-to-speech voice application will provide the station passengers with real-time announcements for train arrivals, delays and other specific information.

The technology will allow the operator's personnel to generate station announcements from their corporate computer or their mobile devices from remote locations.

The technology has been provided by Italian company Loquendo.

The application has been in service in Trenton Transit Center since June with service in Metropark scheduled to begin this week.

The operator plans to deploy it to several other Northeast Corridor stations in the next few months.
