The Californian county of Sonoma has called for tenders for its 70-mile passenger railroad plan which will connect it with the town of Marin in California's south west.
Three contracts are on offer for the Sonoma Marin Rail Transit District (SMART) $590m project – right of way, real property services and vehicle and systems design services.
The rail line will offer an alternative to Highway 101 traffic.
Work on the line is expected to begin in 2011 and be complete by 2014.
