Indian Railways is set to revamp the entire security system at 140 vulnerable and sensitive railway stations across the country.
Under the plan, an internet protocol surveillance system will be installed at the earmarked stations to keep an eye on platforms and passengers.
The stations will also be equipped with extra security guards (including female guards for the first time), baggage screening system, explosive identification and disposal machine, CCTV, electronic control and other safety-related devices.
The integrated security scheme will be implemented at a cost of nearly Rs600 crore.
