Australian city Sydney's proposed light rail extension in the city's CBD and inner-west has moved ahead with $250,000 fund approved for a study to assess the plan's feasibility.
The six-month long study will examine the plan's costs and possible benefits to determine if the plan offers good value for money.
The study will also assess the investment needed, operating costs, integration with other public transport and other technical issues for the decade-old plan.
The study is being funded by $140,000 contributed by the Ashfield, Marrickville, Leichhardt and City of Sydney councils and the remainder by the New South Wales government.
The study is expected to begin shortly.
