IBM to Provide IT Support to Amtrak

IBM will provide information technology (IT) support to US rail operator Amtrak under a new five-year agreement.

The company will provide data centre services such as a mainframe, mid-range server, security services, asset management and help desk and desktop support services for the rail operator's 10,000 workstations across the country.

The company will also provide IT technology for the rail operator's reservation system and its entire computing infrastructure from delivery centres in the country.

The value of the contract is undisclosed.
