Macmahon to Join Hunter Valley Rail Corridor Upgrade

04 August 2009

Australian company Macmahon Holdings will join the $100m Ulan Line Alliance programme to upgrade the Hunter Valley rail corridor in New South Wales.

The venture is one of three capital works programmes aimed at increasing the coal-carrying capacity of the Main Northern Railway Corridor in the Hunter Valley region.

Macmahon and its subsidiary MVM Rail estimate the contract awarded by the Australian Rail Track Corporation to be valued at approximately $60m.

The Ulan Line Alliance will undertake various civil, structure and track construction works in the Hunter Valley between Muswellbrook and Gulgong.

Work involves the design and construction of 11 passing loops and associated tunnel ventilation works on the line between Muswellbrook and Ulan.
