Mulhouse Tram Line Extended to Bourtzwiller

14 July 2009

The French city of Mulhouse's ongoing tram-train project has moved a step further with the completion of a 1.5km line to the suburbs of Bourtzwiller.

The line, including three stations in Bourtzwiller at Châtaignier, Tuilerie and St Nazaire, has been opened for public use and will run 27 trams, railwaygazette.com reports.

The €25.5m fund for the line was awarded by the city transport authority SITRAM, the state and the Haut-Rhin General Council.

The line forms part of the first phase of the city's tram-train project, between Thann-St-Jacques and Mulhouse, scheduled to be completed in 2010.
