A consortium led by Swedish company Skanska has won a CZK4bn ($216m) contract to overhaul the 21km long Prague-Plzen rail line in the Czech Republic.
The renovation work involves building four bridges and modernising the existing 24 bridges, three stations and three platforms, enabling trains to reach speeds of up to 160km/h.
The project will be funded by the EU and the Czech infrastructure fund for the Czech Rail Administration.
Work will begin shortly and is expected to be complete by October 2012.
Skanska's share in the contract is CZK2.76bn ($150m) while the remainder goes to two Czech construction firms forming the consortium.
